Fashion Friday: Fedora

Fedoras: Not just for old men.

My mom used to always tell me how lucky I was because I can pull off hats.  Any hats.  Cowboy hats. Beanies.  Sombreros.  I'm kind of a hat person.

So I'm particularly happy with this whole fedora hat trend.

See.  Don't I look happy in my fedora (and my scuba gear)?

My husband likes to borrow the fedora as well. Sharing accessories with my husband is pretty awesome.

Hip, Hip, HOORAY for confiscating old styles and making them hot again (except for neon. I don't get why that's back. But I digress ...)

Fashion Friday: Summer Trends I Love

Ahhhh, summer.  The time where life should slow down but instead it speeds up to an intense rate of "live life to the fullest as fast as damn possible because we only have three months".  At least it's fun.

Summer fashion.  I love the simplicity of summer styles.  Here are some of my favorite trends for summer 2012.

BLENDING SEASONS

Summer dresses with boots? Scarves with shorts?  Dresses with dark tights? Yes, please!

Fitted Blazers v. Yoga Pants. A Truce?

So,  I've been reading a mom-blog ever since ... well ... I can't remember how long.  That's how long I've been reading it.

Want to know why I read it?  Because I identify with the mom/wife/woman behind the blog.  She's real in a "my kids are driving me crazy," "I'm crying because I missed something big," and "You should hear my love story" kind of way.  Shell at Things I Can't Say is amazing.  I'm a loyal follower.

Well guess what?  Shell invited (yes, invited.  I did not stalk her and force this) me to be write a guest post for her blog so if you want to hear my thoughts on Fitted Blazers v. Yoga pants, head to her site.

It feels pretty good to spill it on someone else's blog.

Plus, now I to show off a new button!

Oh ya--I'm totally being featured on Things They Can't Say!

Fashion Friday: The MOST Important Fashion Accessory

Seriously, there is one fashion accessory you can not--I repeat  CAN NOT--do without regardless of what it costs you.

The good news is it doesn't cost much, one size fits all, and you can find it anywhere (provided you have a good attitude).

So what is the most important accessory?

Your smile, of course.

I know sometimes it can be hard to find your smile. So read through these and get a good grin going.

Smiling yet? Good. Then no matter what you are wearing, you've got the best thing on!

Fashion Friday: Color Block

Spring fashion is majoring in BOLD colors.  Alone this looks like bright yellow jeans paired with navy striped tops and hot pink jewelry.  But one new trend is to put these bold colors together a la 1960s.

Called "COLOR BLOCKS" these combos are shocking yet chic.

Orange, pink, and white

Classic Black, white and red

Blue, red, and yellow

If you don't want to buy a signature "color block" piece, DON'T! Look in your closet and pair whatever colors you've got!

Denim capris + yellow sweater + orange coat

Of course you could always do something subtle with your lipstick.

Maybe not.

However you do it, enjoy the colors! These bright, bold colors will leave us soon so wear them while you can!

Fashion Friday: Florals

Fashion.  Friday. Florals.  That's a lot of F's.

What a perfect way to end my FML week. Yep, an F kind of week.

Whether you like it or not, florals will be big on the scene this season.  Yes, this is true of tulips popping up all over.  But it is also true of fashion.

So grab a floral top or bag or dress and embrace this feminine, "looks like a couch from the 70s" fashion.

Fashion Friday: Ankle Pants

Spring is just around the corner.  At least, that's what I hear.  In Wyoming Spring doesn't officially start until mid-June.

But for the rest of you, spring is right around the corner.  I'd be jealous but I live in Wyoming.  Rolling prairies, the Tetons.  The Wind Rivers.  The Big Horns.  Open spaces, hot springs, abundant wild life.  I'll take that over your dreamy weather any day!  Well, except maybe on those really windy days when my car gets 3 MPG on my commute.

Anyhow, ankle pants are making a huge splash this spring and I'm pretty excited about it.  I got a cute pair of black ankle pants from Gap.  Love them!  Now, if you don't want to buy this new staple, consider hemming a pair of pants or rolling a pair of skinnies.  Either way, you'll be super trendy, comfy, and cute.

Friday Fashion: For the Fellas

I know some folks have partners who aren't into fashion.

That is NOT my partner.  In fact, Matt happens to be a better dresser than I am AND he buys me amazing clothes and accessories.  I love that my husband has such great taste (especially when it comes to choosing a life partner ....).

Anyhow, here are some fashion trends for the fellas.  Seriously, most of these make me think:

BASICS!

Layers for work:

Leather:

Denim:

Plaid:

Oxfords:
