Tuesday's Too Clean Tip--Dusting the small stuff

It's pretty easy to dust the big stuff but how do you get into the tiny nooks and crannies of stereo speakers and key boards?

Try a soft bristled paint brush--it'll work wonders on your phone, small cracks, and the crannies you can't get with your dusting cloth.

Now here's a big question:

Do you vacuum before or after you dust and why?

  1. Hmm... I vacuum before I dust because dust can get kicked up when you're vacuuming. Seems like I heard this a long time ago, but now I'm wondering if it is supposdto be the other way around!

  2. Jessica--I'm with you. I vacuum first. But a friend of mine was shocked by this because of the dust that falls onto the ground when you are dusting. Now my confidence has been shaken! What to do!?!?!

  3. I vacuum before I dust because I hate dusting and if I put it off long enough my husband will get home and ask if there's anything he can help with. And I will say "Yes, I just didn't get to that darn dusting today".

  4. @Rachael--I like your thought process--do you have any tricks to get your DH to do laundry or clean toilets :)

  5. Funny, this ones a tough one for me. I'm not sure either way is better than the other. I think it's just a cycle that can't be stopped. I sometimes feel like the dust will eventually take over and I won't be able to stop it! I think I usually end up vacuuming first too, though because it does seem to stir up more dust.

  6. I hate dusting. I secretly enjoy vacuuming. My mom taught me to vacuum first because of the above stated reasons. But really I try to dust as little as possible & its usually at a random time, not during my normal chores time. Usually just whenever i notice it is needed. Dusting is one reason I don't keep very many nic-nacky types of things in my house. Haha!

  7. I dry dust first, vacuum, and then 'wet' dust with a microfiber cloth. Yeah, I do it twice, but for some reason my house is EXTRA dusty.
